Choose the right animations and transitions
Because PowerPoint Online and PowerPoint 2013 and higher use slightly different technologies for playback, not all animations and transitions in your PowerPoint presentation will play on the web. Because Office Mix plays mixes on the web, it's likely that an animation or transition that doesn't play in PowerPoint Online will not play in your mix either.
Applying animations and slide transitions
According to the "Apply basic transitions and animations" section of PowerPoint Online on TechNet, you can "choose from a small gallery of animation and transition effects. Animations and transitions not supported by PowerPoint Online are preserved in the presentation and displayed in the slide show, but they cannot be modified in PowerPoint Online."
Apply a limited set of animations only
The majority of PowerPoint animations and transitions play as expected in a mix on the web. If you're looking for recommendations for which ones work particularly well in a mix, use the following: :

Avoid animations that play differently online
The following animation effects play online but look different from the way they look on the desktop version of PowerPoint. For instance, the Circle effect animates in the shape of a box instead of a circle. Try to avoid using the following animation effects because they play differently than expected:

Apply Cut, Fade, and Push transitions only
According to the "Transitions" section of How certain features behave in PowerPoint Online, "Only Fade and Push transitions play in PowerPoint Online. Transitions added in desktop PowerPoint are preserved, but can only be played or changed in desktop PowerPoint." Note that Cut transitions are also supported in PowerPoint Online, and thus in Office Mix too.
Avoid changing animation effect options
When you apply an animation in PowerPoint, you can change its settings (either in the Animations tab or in the Effect Options dialog). The following settings do not work in a published mix:

Problems with non-Microsoft add-ins
Some animations and transitions will fail to record and play correctly when you have some third-party add-ins installed; for example, if you installed version 8.4.3.1792 or older of TechSmith Camtasia. To get the fix from TechSmith, see Slide animations and transitions are not working properly on the Office Mix Feedback & Support site. Other third-party add-ins may cause the same problem.
How to work with animations and transitions
Some mix authors create slide recordings, and then try to layer on animations and other effects. The problem with this approach is that in Office Mix, what you record is what you get: when you create a slide recording, it will play back exactly what you recorded. If you later add animations and transitions to your presentation, they will not be a part of your slide recording.
To make sure that your mix always includes what you want it to include, think of recording as the last step in the authoring process. That is, create your presentation so that it looks and plays the way you want, and then create your slide recording(s).
Follow these steps to make sure your mix will play the way you expect:

Follow these steps to make sure your mix will play the way you expect:
- Create your presentation, insert content, apply animations and transitions, etc.
- Add or remove animation or transition effects, and/or change their timings.
- Insert additional elements using Office Mix (quizzes and apps, screen recordings, slide recordings, digital ink, etc.).
- Preview your mix.
- Modify your slide or screen recordings as needed.
- Publish your mix.
